Year of the Priest

Groups and Organisations

There are many groups and organisations within our Parish life. If you wish to participate in any of the groups, please send us an e-mail to info@stjustusandanselm.org.uk and we will be able to help you join that group. Also, if you feel that we have not included an important group or organisation of the Parish, please feel free to e-mail us at info@stjustusandanselm.org.uk and we will include the information in this page.

Altar Serving

Altar Servers play in important part of the Mass. They assist the Priest in the celebration of Mass. Anyone who has completed their First Holy Communion may become an altar server.

St. Stephen is the Patron Saint of altar servers, and a Guild was founded in the early 20th Century to help train and assist altar servers.

Children's Liturgy

There is a children's liturgy at both the 9am Mass in Paddock Wood and the 10.30am Mass in Pembury. The children learn a lot about the Catholic faith at these sessions, and we are very grateful to the parents who help to run the sessions.

Choir and Musicians

Each church has its own choir and musicians, and we are always looking for more musicians and singers to join our musical group during the celebration of Mass.

If you can play an instrument, or are a singer, and can commit regularly, please contact us.

Church Cleaning

A voluntary group of parishioners each week clean the churches. We are always looking for more volunteers to help maintain the cleanliness of the churches, and you don't have to be female!

If you feel that you can commit to this on a regular rota basis, please contact us.

Eucharistic Ministers

Eucharistic Ministers are people who, upon recommendation from their Priest, and following instruction, are able to distribute Holy Communion at Mass; take Communion to the sick and housebound; and to expose the Blessed Sacrament for periods of Exposition.

Flower Arranging

Throughout the year, flowers adorn the altar. We have a rota of ladies who voluntarily arrange these flowers for us to enjoy each week. If you would like to join these ladies, please do contact us. Again, it is not limited to the ladies of the Parish!

Foreign Language Speakers

Are you able to speak a foreign language? Is English perhaps not your first language? We are looking to connect those in the Parish who can speak another language with those who are new to the Parish from a different country. It is hard to integrate into a new Parish and that's why we're trying to make the process easier. So if you can help, please contact us.

Readers

There are many volunteers from each church who read each week to the congregation during Mass. If you would like to join the rota, please contact us. We encourage everyone to read at Mass. There is also a day of recollection for readers, which is announced in the newsletter.

St. Anselm's Maintenance Men (SAMM)

The St. Anselm's Maintenance Group meet on the first Saturday of every month and help maintain the hall and chapel. There is a lot of maintenance which needs to be done each month, both inside and outside the building. If you think you can commit to this group, please contact us.

The St. Vincent de Paul Society is an international Christian voluntary organisation which is dedicated to tackling poverty and disadvantage by providing direct practical assistance to anyone in need.
